Jane Collins is the director of patient safety/loss prevention for specialty insurer MCIC Vermont, LLC. Prior to this, she served as the director of regulatory within the quality division at Allegheny Health Network, focusing on regulatory compliance including hospital licensure, The Joint Commission accreditation and CMS certification. She was also responsible for the implementation of, and compliance with, other federal and state laws and regulations. Allegheny Health Network is an integrated health system consisting of eight hospitals, six surgery centers, and 253 locations for care in the ambulatory setting.
Professor Collins has extensive experience in the health care industry and specific experience in patient safety, quality, and risk management. Professor Collins was the director of risk management and patient safety at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh from 1998-2009 and director of quality and patient safety at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. from 2009-2012. As a professional nurse, prior to her work in quality, Professor Collins worked in a variety of clinical settings at Allegheny General and West Penn Hospitals. In addition, Professor Collins has extensive experience in the field of pharmaceutical research, coordinating clinical trials, testing the safety and efficacy of novel antipsychotics and antihypertensive agents at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and West Penn Hospital, respectively.
Professor Collins is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She also earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing at the University of Pittsburgh.
